SunRocket said to be on last legs
Om leads us to a thread on Broadband Reports, indicating what sounds like a death knell for VoIP provider SunRocket.
Basically SunRocket is out of money, Om reports. Weeks of cash on hand left. That after raising $80 million in funding. The founders left five months ago, and no new accounts are being accepted for signup.
Here’s the post from suncrap, who says he is now a former SunRocket user who was let go on Thursday:
Its official, Sunrocket let go most of its staff today, including me. There will be a skeleton crew of 24 people until the sale is final. The service will continue as normal at this time and I really dont know if they will shut down at this point since there are still two legitimate companies looking to buy SunRocket.
If the sale does not occur, SR will close down in a month. No I am not an angry employee trying to start a new discussion, its sad that we didnt make it but thats the risk with a start up. Good luck to the current customers, wish we had more of you.
OK, Russ again. I’d like to here from some of SunRocket’s stated 200,000 customers. If the company fades away into the sunset, where will you go for VoIP service? To the company’s acquirer (if any), to Vonage, Lingo, Packet8, a bundled package from your broadband provider, Skype, IM voice, etc?
