I hate hard-to-open, shrinkwrapped or blisterpacked gizmos. Poll: don't you?
Yesterday I bought a Skype-certified, Logitech Stereo USB Headset 250 at Office Depot.
Brought it home and tried to open it. Sounds easy enough.
It was then that I once again encountered the blisterpack monster. Similar in some ways to the shrinkwrap monster. Looked for an easy opening, but I am telling you, had a beast of a time trying to open it.
But see the knife in the photo at the top of this post?
I usually use it to cut steak and fish-ultimately in the service of my sense of taste.
But the Headset I bought was in the service of another sense- hearing.
I sliced. I diced. I cut, being really careful to keep my knife away from the actual product.
Finally, after much destruction- success.
YAY.
But as with other experiences, I came away from this experience with a rant.
WHY ARE TECHNOLOGY PRODUCTS SO HARD TO OPEN? WHY THIS OBSESSION WITH BLISTERPACKS/SHRINKWRAP?
It’s not a theft issue. I already paid for the product when the salesperson handed it to me.
It’s not a safety issue. We’re not talking about keeping pills out of the hands of children.
It may be because, well, the packaging people don’t talk to the marketing people.
High time they should, IMHO (in this case, In My Haughty Opinion).
But what about your opinion?
