Fiorina's resignation should have no effect on HP's IP efforts
By now, many of you have heard the news that Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina has stepped down today.
While it’s too early topredict if her resignation mighthave any effect onHP’s role in IP telephony, my guess is, probably not all that much.
HP is already involved in IP, especially on the enterprise level.
One recent deal, presumably executed with Fiorina’s approval, HP and SBC signed an agreementlast month to provide a joint management service for integrated information management and telecommunications systems the two companies would market to the enterprise. IP telephony was singled out as a key driver in the deal.
Expect more deals like this in the future, regardless of HP’s leadership, whether the company stays intact, or if- as some have advocated-the tech icon is broken up into enterprise-specific and consumer-targeted entitities.
