Juniper competitor: Kagoor acquisition "not a security play"
In some circles, Juniper Networks’ acquisition of Kagoor Networks is being viewed as a "security play."
A spokesperson for BorderWare Technologies sent me an email today, responding to this apparent sentiment.
"The problem," she wrote, is that an SBC (Session Border Controller) is not a security product. An SBC sits between your LAN and the Internet managing traffic, and doing NAT (Network Address Translation) traversal."
She added:
"BorderWare believes that the SBC market would not last long because SBCs are really part of a feature set, and not a product category."
