Here are world's top ten VoIP providers by sub count

My colleagues over at IT Facts are out today with a list of VoIP subscribers by country, region and provider.

Parsing the information, (which comes from market research firm Point Topic), we see that as of the first quarter of this year, the top ten VoIP providers listed by number of customers were:

  1. Skype- 5,300,000
  2. Yahoo! Japan- 4,517,000
  3. VoiceGlo- 605,000
  4. Free (France)- 600,000
  5. Vonage (you knew we would get to them eventually) 535,000.
  6. FastWeb (Italy) 528,000
  7. Cox- 413,000
  8. Time Warner- 372,000
  9. Cablevision- 364,000
  10. Neuf (France)- 297,000

According to the overall numbers, there were some 17,400,000 VOIP subscribers worldwide in 1Q of this year- up 3 million from 14,400,000 in 1Q 2004.
