Scotty would have been a VoIP user
He was an engineer, a communicator, the ultimate space-faring IT manager.
And he knew a few things about workarounds, right?
StarTrek communicators would have used VoIP.
Those same communicators would have been VoIP-enabled for ship to surface communications- and planets colonized by the Federation would have had VoIP-enabled WiMax.
Which they will.
Fare thee well, Jimmy Doohan/Scotty. You nurtured generations of techies. Including me.
