Exclusive: Google Talk to be compatible with Gizmo, Vling softphones

googletalk_3.jpg Google Talk is now live. You’re looking at it on the right.

It’s a straight IM program, tied in with Gmail, and with no voice capability except to and from other Google Talk users.

For now. 

But only for now.

It’s going to have softphone capability.  

When I clicked thru to the Google Talk Developer Page I found something very interesting. 

Here’s what I learned:

Q. When will federation with EarthLink and Sipphone be available?

A. We do not have details at this time on when federation will be enabled. But we are working closely with Earthlink and Sipphone to federate EarthLink’s Vling service and Sipphone’s Gizmo Project with the Google Talk service as quickly as possible, while offering the best possible user experience.

Look out, Skype
