What the Fluke acquisition of Visual Networks means
That’s the Fluke Networks OptiView Series II Integrated Network Analyzer’s V4 Software’s Wireless Option screen.
So why am I writing about this rather than Google or Yahoo!?
Sometimes in our haste to elicit "grand VoIP strategy" omens about mega media company VoIP strategies - i.e., "what is Google really up to" - we forget what is really fueling the growth of VoIP.
That’s the less-than-glamorous deals that combine two enabling technologies under one roof. And when you have that, you have the template for combining these techs under one GUI.
Take for instance Friday’s announcement that network performance management and measurement products and services provider Fluke Electronics will buy VoIP management hardware and software solutions provider Visual Networks.
This deal has tremendous potential for new products that will measure VoIP performance in both wired and wireless networks.
Something that, maybe, would combine Fluke’s Network Analyzer with Visual’s IP Insight (sorry for the blurry pix but that’s what Visual has on their site).
