Edition number 20 in this Digital Markets Blog presidential campaign 2008 series on what I am calling “User Generated Politics”

Who says Republicans don't "get it"?

While the political world awaits John McCain’s official announcement of his presidential candidacy, McCain is annoucning his “User Generated Politics” presidential campaign 2008, big time!

McCain aims not only to give the Republican party a run for its money (literally), he is en route to give MySpace a run for its friends!

Announcing: McCAINSPACE, THE McCAIN ONLINE COMMUNITY

The “Join McCain 2008” Web site proudly declares:

Get connected to other McCain supporters with McCainSpace! Be a part of our team, and soon you will be able to connect with other supporters to build our network of grassroots activists, take action and have fun. Sign up for your own McCainSpace page, and stay tuned for more features to get connected to other McCain supporters!

John McCain will not be following in Tom Anderson’s everyone is my friend strategy, though. McCain is interested in cultivating specific types of friends, conservative ones.

McCain's "User Generated Politics" strategy asks “would you like to have your voice heard within the conservative online community?”:

CREATE YOUR OWN McCAINSPACE WEBSITE
Create your very own JohnMcCain.com website to show your friends and family your support for John McCain.

Blogging benefits of joining Team McCain:

In a later version of this site, we will launch a full campaign blog where you can read the latest from the campaign trail, make comments on individual posts, or start your own blog within this community. Be one of the first to have your own exclusive page within the McCainSpace community.

Can’t wait? McCain offers handy tips for “engaging the conservative blogosphere”:

We would love to have you join our new community when it launches, until then please consider adding your voice to the conversations going on in the blogosphere. Most blogs allow you to engage in discussions revolving around each posting.

McCain recommends a cordial "User Generated Politics" blogosphere engagement:

Some blogs are supportive of McCain while others are not. Either way, we ask that you be respectful and conscious of your status as a guest on their site.

McCainSpace community members, however, will NOT have to act like guests at their own McCainSpaces!
