The U.S. version, that supports AT&T’s 3G network, of the HTC Touch Dual was announced back in April and is supposed to be available online (still shows up as pre-order) and at retail Best Buy locations this Memorial Day weekend. I reviewed the non-US version back in December after winning one at the Mobius Amsterdam event. I really don’t need another Windows Mobile device right now with the new Advantage in hand, but I am very tempted to swing by Best Buy this weekend and pick one up because it has a wonderful form factor and is one of my favorite devices.

The HTC Touch Dual runs Windows Mobile Professional 6.1 and is the first device available in the U.S. with this version of the operating system. This model also has the 20-key SureType keyboard that I love on my T-Mobile Shadow. Unfortunately, it does not have WiFi, but does have support for HSDPA with AT&T. The retail price is US$549.99 and the device is SIM unlocked.

HTC also announced a Windows Mobile 6.1 and display performance update (I’m trying to find out what this update means) for the HTC TyTN II owners. The TyTN II is the first HTC branded device to receive the 6.1 update and this device is quite popular so I am sure there will be lots of stories online about people updating their device and how the performance and experience has changed. Similar updates will be coming for more HTC devices soon as well.
