Nokia N78 North American version now availableAs regular readers know, I spend more time on my mobile phones than I do on a PC or notebook computer so being able to use my devices without connecting them to a computer is important to me. In the past, I have always had to make sure I had a Windows PC around to update my Windows Mobile or Nokia phones, but today that has changed. As presented on the All About Symbian website, Nokia now lets you download and update your device without ever connecting it to a PC. I followed the instructions for the Nokia N78 I am evaluating and even just connected via my T-Mobile EDGE connection.

The update downloaded, something like 1.7MB, and installed flawlessly with all of my settings, applications, and personalizations in place and working like a champ. This is the way I would like to see all mobile phone updates and am very happy to see Nokia making over-the-air updates available.

BTW, this v11.043 update for the Nokia N78 provides the following:

  • Improved Bluetooth stability
  • Improved Music Player refresh time
  • Optimized camera performance
  • Navi-wheel sensitivity improvements (I haven’t noticed as many accidental selections)

If you have a Nokia N78, follow the instructions on the All About Symbian site and update your device wherever you are.
