CES2009: HP announces Mini 2140 with Atom processor and more
The compact notebook market was hot last year and I am sure we’ll see lots of news out of CES this week for these devices as well. The HP 2133 Mini-Note was the first HP model in this category, followed by the Mini-Note 1000 that offered a bit lower specs and pricing. HP has now upgraded the 2133 model with the HP Mini 2140 that should be available later in January. Laptop Magazine already has a full extensive review that I recommend you check out if you are interested in this model.
The HP Mini 2140 is priced starting at US$499 and going upwards with options so it isn’t in the super low cost category of some ASUS models. However, the specs are quite impressive with a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, up to 2GB RAM, up to 160GB hard drive or 80GB solid state drive, 10.1 inch display options at 1024×576 or 1366×768 resolution, WiFi, optional Bluetooth, and 3 or 6-cell battery options. With the 6-cell battery the Mini 2140 is a bit heavy at 3 pounds as compared to my MSI Wind with 6-cell battery at 2.6 pounds.
