CES2009: Sony Walkman X1000 revealed with OLED touch screen displayThe rumors that Sony was planning to launch a touch screen media player at CES were spot on and looking at what was revealed (may have been unofficial at this time since there is not a press release or other info available yet) I have to say I am quite impressed initially. The Sony Walkman NWZ-X1000 has a 3-inch OLED touchscreen display, WiFi, headphone-independent noise cancellation, and capacities of 16GB & 32GB. Sony is holding a press conference at CES this evening where even more details should be revealed.

One of the big questions, being that this is a Sony product, will be the price of the player. In these lean economic times I don’t think the masses are going to jump for a device that is high priced when there are plenty of other alternatives out there. I am also interested in hearing if there are any content partners (Amazon MP3 maybe?).

I love the OLED display on my Nokia N85 because of the even lighting, contrast, and dark black color. OLED should help give the new Sony longer battery life and great viewability in different lighting conditions.

Even with the OLED display and other features of this new device, it is going to be tough to compete with the iPod touch and the vast 3rd party application market that is taking off. Do you think this new Sony can compete with the iPod touch?
