Nook not shipping today as planned, 2 free offers to make up for delay

I told you why I thought the B&N Nook was the ebook reader to beat and ordered mine that first hour they were available for preorder. I have been diligently checking my order status page today since it previously stated my Nook was scheduled to ship on 30 November. Sadly, this is not going to happen as planned and I won’t be able to take my Nook on this weekend’s cross country trip. However, I did receive an email from Barnes & Noble with two nice offers to make up for this delay.

Here is the body of the email I received:

Dear Matthew,

You were smart to order your nook early for 2 reasons:

You’ll be one of the first to have one. Your nook is shipping soon and
we expect to have it to you by December 9th. As an added bonus, we’ve upgraded
you to overnight shipping!

To thank you for being one of the first proud nook owners, we’re giving
you a $10 Barnes&Noble.com Online Gift Certificate. You can redeem it for
cool and stylish nook accessories, bestsellers, exciting new DVDs and Music,
and Toys & Games; and beginning in mid December, you’ll be able to redeem it
for eBooks!

So as you can see I now get free overnight shipping with a planned arrival date of 9 December and I get a $10 gift certificate to use for a case, ebook, etc. I plan to hold off using it until the Nook arrives to see if a case is a good idea and already have some titles ordered up and ready to load on my Nook.

Did you get a copy of Tipping Point like they'd originally offered? I also ordered my nook right after announcement and never received it. Customer service has been less than useless in providing any hint of where that offer has gone!... (Read the rest)
