I enjoy using the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet for web browsing from the couch and for making Skype calls. I would use it even more if I didn’t have so many mobile devices floating around and think it is a great mobile terminal. Nokia just announced the Nokia N810 as a successor to the N800. The N810 will be available in mid-November for US$479 and it looks like there is another candidate for my self-purchased Christmas gift.

Nokia N810

The N810 improves on the N800 by offering an integrated GPS receiver and Wayfinder mapping software, A2DP Bluetooth support, enhanced video and audio features (not quite sure what this entails yet), OS 2008 and an integrated QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard looks a lot like the HTC Universal one that everyone seems to love so that will be an interesting feature to try out. It still has integrated WiFi (with Skype support), integrated Bluetooth, and a 4.13 inch 800×480 resolution touch-screen display along with the kickstand for hands-free usage. I am not sure what memory expansion slots it has as the press release does not have these details.

The great news for those of us with a Nokia N800 is that we will soon be able to upgrade to the OS 2008 firmware as well that has a much more powerful Mozilla-based browser with Ajax and Adobe Flash 9.

You can add A2DP support with a third party hack - http://www.internettablettalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8435... (Read the rest)
