As I mentioned in my previous post containing the 10 most visited and most discussed blog posts, HTC devices and the Apple iPhone were very popular topics in 2007. I wanted to follow that post up by taking a closer look at the mobile device hardware I had a chance to use in 2007 and some of the key announcements and other news related to mobile devices.

I reviewed (or am currently evaluating) 17 mobile devices in 2007 as you can see in the list below.

Apple iPhone and Nokia N95

I have a couple of titles I would like to award to a few of these devices.

Best form factor with weak specs: T-Mobile Wing
Most “caressable” device: HTC Touch Dual
Device that surprised me: Palm Centro (I actually recommended this to a few people who now love it.)
Device that invigorated the mobile landscape: Apple iPhone

Best S60 device of the year: Nokia N95-3
Best Windows Mobile device of the year: T-Mobile Shadow
Best Palm OS device of the year: Palm Centro
Best BlackBerry device of the year: T-Mobile BlackBerry Curve

Worst mobile device of the year: i-mate JAQ3
Best overall mobile device of the year: HTC Advantage

There were also a ton of devices that I didn’t get any hands-on time with and some of these I talked a bit about this year included the following:

A few significant announcements and issues that I talked about this year that I thought should be noted include:

There was also one device that I was looking forward to that was revealed in March, yet it still remains unavailable. The HTC Shift may be coming in the first quarter of 2008 and I just hope it doesn’t end up as a piece of vaporware like the DualCor CPC.

What was your favorite mobile device of the year? I listed the top choices below, but if you have something different feel free to leave a Talkback.

What was your favorite mobile device of 2007?
