iPhone update 1.1.4 available, but changes are hard to findIt is nearing the end of February when many of us iPhone owners were hoping that the SDK release would occur. That still hasn’t happened yet, but iPhone update 1.1.4 is available and TUAW is writing about it as they go through checking out all the details. At this time, no noticeable changes or functionality has been identified. I am keeping my eye on the internet today to see if an update is worth it now that I am back in the land of a fully compliant AT&T iPhone. Has anyone updated their iPhones and if so, can you find any reason to update?

UPDATE: OK, I am downloading (162 MB) and installing the update right now and plan to go through my device to see if I can find anything that has changed as a result of the update. I’ll post back with any findings. This may just be a required update to support the SDK and apps. Apple has been known to hide things in the updates that are enable later by them.

My download is taking forever here at work, but people on Howard Forums are reporting the following (not verified by me yet):

  • Better RF reception
  • Overall improvement in device responsiveness (switching apps, opening photos, etc.)
  • SMS ordering bug is fixed and text messages now appear in proper order
  • Faster browsing when connected via WiFi compared to 1.1.3 (could be quite subjective here)

personally, i think all of the above are true as far as what the update offers. The phone did seem a little more responsive.

GoogleMaps seems to zip a little faster, but maybe that's me.
