Hyperic has joined forces with another open source software leader to deliver enterprise reporting tools to its new HQ 3.1 platform, sources say.

The San Francisco company, which released its core HQ 3.1 upgrade in August, is widely expected to begin shipping an enterprise version of that open source management and monitoring platform next week, sources close to the company claim. JasperSoft is a leading provider of open source business intelligence and reporting tools.

Hyperic, for its part, declined to comment.

However, Hyperic CEO Javier Soltero, a former Netscape engineer, said it is important for the platform to deliver enterprise reporting capabilities to the management platform, which is gaining momentum in the online infrastructure management space.

Hyperic competes with other open source monitoring software ISVs such as Zenoss, OpenCountry, GroundWork and OpenNMS Group but offers several unique capabilities such as advnaced management, application management and Microsoft platforms support, Soltero noted.

Hyperic was founded in 2004 and released HQ as an open source platform in 2006.
