SCO bankruptcy was celebrated online in 2007
My January piece on SCO’s impending bankruptcy finished as the 6th most popular story here all year.
It’s an indication of user sentiment that while no one wanted to discuss the news, it drew a rating of +15 from readers who recommended it. The actual bankruptcy petition was filed in September.
Since its decision to claim patent rights over basic Linux technology, SCO has become the chief villain of the open source world. But the course of its legal case has made it more of a Boris Badenov than the Dracula I portrayed in my piece.

Since the piece was written, things have gone from bad to worse for SCO. Groklaw has followed the legal filings in excruciating detail, and the next hearing in SCO vs. Novell is expected in January.
In what may be the final humiliation for SCO, Groklaw’s recent posts have generally moved on to discussing Microsoft and OOXML.
