Appcelerator logoAppcelerator says the new version of its forge site, Appcelerator.org, is filled with Web 2.0 goodness.

You might even call it a Forge 2.0.

The idea is the site will not just attract Appcelerator developers, but anyone in a field related to the RIA tools it offers. That includes the whole AJAX community as well as the emerging mobile Internet development folks.

For instance, once you complete a member profile and contribute to an Appcelerator forum, that profiles follows you. Other users can see at a glance if you’re a committer, a contributor, or a newbie, and respond appropriately.

Each member’s page can be automatically populated with comments, contributions, and outside resources.

The company is also proud of its new Widget Exchange, which not only lets you trade widgets but integrate those from existing libraries like the Yahoo User Interface library (YUI) and ExtJS.

These capabilities could create an interesting new level of competition, as not only vendor-centric but all types of developer sites rush to include new capabilities.

Which the snarks in Atlanta will tell you they can easily write with Appcelerator.
