Eclipse gets its first Russian member
Eclipse got its first Russian member today with Excelsior LLC of Novosibirsk joining as an add-in provider.
Excelsior is best known for JET, a Java SE 6 implementation which resists reverse engineering and tampering through scrambling of strings. The company lists 50 applications written with it, including TuxGuitar, a Japanese guitar-player.
Novosibirsk is now the third-largest city in Russia and the largest city in Siberia. Eclipse executive director Mike Milunovich might like the place since he lives in Ottawa, Canada.
CTO Vitaly Mikheev said all the right things. “The JVM expertise we have been gaining for ten years has enabled us to look at the Eclipse code from a different angle. We plan to provide some interesting feedback, hopefully useful, to Eclipse platform developers.”
Can’t wait until they host their first meeting. I wonder if I can get the editors to pay my way there? Use this thread to give our new Russian friends a big open source welcome.
