SaaS is one of those buzzwords (like clouds) that will mark you as a comer in 2009 and likely mark you as a goner by 2011.

It’s like that Dilbert comic from a decade ago where Wally pulled his last strands of hair into a ponytail and had venture capitalists drooling because he could recite buzzwords like “e-commerce.”

Paglo, which gives network managers greater visibility into their networks, announced some cool enhancements Monday that are now “part of the Paglo IT Management SaaS platform.”

Brian de Haaff gave me a tour of the new capabilities. He was able to zoom down into user nodes of a network in real time to see exactly what services they were using and how much bandwidth each one consumed.

“It’s used for both troubleshooting and for ongoing capacity planning,” he said.  You can see who your bandwidth hogs are and make rational choices on what to do. “It runs in a multi-threaded architecture, like Chrome” so the crawler itself is not a bandwidth hog.

Paglo sent some nice illustrations for this piece but Wally is such a hero to so many in their target market I thought it would be more effective to put him here. Then when Paglo changes its buzzwords you won’t be left out in the cold.
