When Friends Disagree
This one is short, but irresistible.
According to the Kansas City Business Journal, Sprint Nextel is suing IBM for $6.4 million, demanding a refund for over119,000 hours in labor worked on an outsourcing contract. The contract included a clause guaranteeing that Sprint would receive specific productivity improvements as a result of the IBM contract. Sprint and IBM disagree on whether those goals were actually achieved, so the thing has ended up in court.
Sprint and IBM continue to have a variety of other large projects in place — presumably those projects are in better shape than this one. And for all you hour-counters out there, 119,000 hours equates to about 57 years of work for one person.
