Speaking at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco last week, Wired founding editor Kevin Kelly painted a compelling picture of the opportunities created as we increasingly open our data up for linking.

Reprising and building upon an earlier presentation that has been discussed here previously, Kelly raises the prospect of a ‘World Wide Database’ that bears many of the hallmarks of the Semantic Web.

The presentation was reported at the time by Steve Gillmor and Nicole Ferraro, but video is now also available. I explore the implications of Kelly’s premise in the context of Cloud Computing here.
