Analyst: companies not ready for long SOA journey
Anne Thomas Manes of the Burton Group has a gift for seeing through all the muck and hype to give us a clear picture on what’s really going on with SOA.
Paul Krill was on hand at this week’s Burton Group conference, and provides an account of Anne’s latest speech, in which she noted that many vendors are taking old products and dressing them up as “SOA.”
SOA isn’t about technology at all, she pointed out. “SOA is how how you think about solving the problem.”
SOA will take time to deliver its true benefits, including aligning IT with the business and providing flexibility and agility, and many companies aren’t prepared for such long-term efforts, she also said, pointing out that “my contention is an awful lot of companies are really not ready to do SOA.”
