MyCreativeCommunity, a social network for screen writers

The first social networking site based on Marc Canter's PeopleAggregator has gone live. MyCreativeCommunity is a network for 'creative types' working in the television and film industries, which Canter says was built simply by "skinning the UI (of PeopleAggregator) and adding some new modules".

MyCreativeCommunity

PeopleAggregator isn't the only "MySpace in a box" (as Canter calls it) but along with other offerings such as the web service Ning or the open source Elgg, allows anybody to set up and run their own social network. With the underlying code becoming a commodity, I think we'll see an explosion of niche and intimate social networks (made up of 100s rather than 1000s of users), each catering for a very specific user base. What's then required is a way to join up all of these networks, which is the next part of Canter's vision.
