It may be premature to chime in on the side of Michael Lynn, the ISS engineer that is causing the ruckus at Black Hat this week. But he is showing signs of martyrdom and could be come an Internet security hero.
According to this at the Washington Post, Mr. Lynn presented and demonstrated a Cisco IOS vulnerability that is pretty serious. Cisco and ISS had been following the usual procedure to find a fix over the last four months and Cisco was slated to co-present but pulled out and pressured the conference and ISS to withdraw the presentation. Lynn resigned from ISS over this matter.

Of course the complete story is not out yet, but you have to admire an engineer who sticks to his guns against high power pressure from his employer and Cisco. I know I admire him.
