Claria Demonstrates the Power of Spin

Claria has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Private Companies of 2006 by AlwaysOn. Just as a reminder: Claria is the organization that brought us Gator, the surreptitious program that installed through Kazaa and screen saver downloads. Gator was most people’s introduction to spyware as it tracked your browsing behavior and popped up ads served by a division of Yahoo.  They have been scrambling to distance themselves from their sordid past by disavowing their reptilian program and now offering some sort of web based behavior tracking solution in hopes of having a second life while avoiding the wrath of various States Attorney Generals and a life in prison.

Claria was handpicked by the AlwaysOn editorial panel based on a set of five criteria: technology innovation, market potential, customer adoption, media buzz and investor value creation.

AlwaysOn’s "editorial panel" will forever be tainted by this selection.
