Living with the Adkaf
Last April, Darby Green, an entrepreneur in New Zealand, contacted me concerning a series of posts I’d published about having coffee attack the keyboard of a new Dell computer (see the string of posts beginning with The old coffee-in-the-keyboard trick). He suggested that his company had a solution, called the Adkaf. The Adkaf is a bit of formed plastic that makes the process of drinking coffee while working a bit safer. The Adkaf (see below) has had a place next to my computers since that conversation.

This little device not only has prevented a number of repeat performances of the old coffee in the keyboard trick, it has become the home to my telephone during conference calls, a rest for my stylus and a few other things. It’s an awfully clever piece of plastic.
