Bluetooth helmet headset
I recently traded in my Honda Goldwing motorcycle and brought home a much smaller machine, a Honda Silverwing. It seemed a better fit for life’s current conditions.
I really miss the sound system on the Goldwing. I enjoyed listening to music while touring around Florida. The Silverwing, unfortunately, doesn’t offer a sound system of any kind. Humming my favorite tunes really isn’t a substitute in my experience.
Since my HTC Advantage has the ability to be both a GPS and an MP3 player, I thought that it might be part of a solution to that problem. The wired headset that came with the unit wasn’t much use when I was wearing my helmet. I never ride without the proper safety gear, including a helmet. I thought that a bluetooth stereo motorcycle helmet would be the solution to my problem.
I ordered a Scala Team Rider headset from Cernic’s Cycle World. Once the headset arrived, I discovered that it wouldn’t mate with the HTC Advantage in any other mode than as a phone headset. I immediately sent an email to the good folks at Cernic’s Cycle World and started looking for a way to make the headset work as I had envisioned.
Dan Lewandoski over at Cernic’s was extremely helpful but, neither of us could come up with a way to make the device work as I had intended. Dan just told me to ship it back and my account would be credited. Wow, what service! I wish Comcast and Dell would take a lesson from these nice people.
I’ll continue searching for a cost effective solution to my problem. In the mean time, I’m going to practice humming my favorite tunes.
