VDIworks, formally the software arm of ClearCube, has announced that they’re going to provide their virtual access technology, connection broker technology (Senral) and management software to organizations who plan to deploy Microsoft’s Hyper-V virtual machine software. VDIworks already offers its technology to organizations using other popular virtual machine software. For those unfamiliar with the company, the posts ClearCube Cross Platform Application Access or ClearCube Spins off VDIworks will act as an introduction.

It is clear that VDIworks plans to ride all of the prominent virtual machine software horses organizations may choose in the hopes of winning the race to be the organizations choice for this type of software. This is likely to be a challenging task, however.
VMware, Citrix and Microsoft already offer virtual access software for their virtual machine software environments. Each can point to thousands of customers using their technology to achive greater levels of agility, management control, security and a number of other benefits. This, of course, means that VDIworks faces the challenging task of convincing organizations that a cross-platform approach would be far better than acquiring a number of point solutions.

In the end, choice is good for customers. They can choose ony one of the appraoches being offered by these suppliers or choose different products to address different requirements.
