I’m often invited to share the details of some supplier’s web seminars. Here’s an exerpt from the most recent example: <please note that this is an exact copy of portions of the message>

Hi Dan,

This is something very very exciting and interesting that came my way and i think you and your blog readers will really find it worth your time!

IBM is hosting a “The Dynamic Infrastructure Worldwide Virtual Forum” on June 23-24. Here’s a link for registering and brief description of the Virtual Forum.

If this is of interest to you, feel free to post this on your  blog, for anyone else who might be interested in attending it.  And if you have any questions about it, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Thanks again,

While I’m gratified that these folks think that Virtually Speaking reaches a large number of potential attendees, all of these messages make me wonder if people really find value in these events.

I’ve presented quite a number of times using tools such as WebEx, GoTo Meeting, Live Meeting (formally known as Placeware), Adobe Connect and have found that the content varies from merely being a series of marketing messages to being an in-depth conversation on the use of some product or tool.

Do you attend virtual seminars? What is your prefered way of learning about them? What value do you find in them?
