Yahoo! Pipes unclogged, metaphor officially retired
The big news yesterday was the announcement and launch of Yahoo! pipes. Grokked by so many people, the site choked and was unavailable for most of the day.
Luckily they put their best person on the job and the site is back up today.
I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised to see Yahoo! out innovating Google on something like this.
What is Pipes?
Pipes is a free online service that lets you remix popular feed types and create data mashups using a visual editor. You can use Pipes to run your own web projects, or publish and share your own web services without ever having to write a line of code.
When I worked for Feedster, we use to talk about someone doing this…and I'm glad to see someone finally built it.

Okay, maybe these examples aren't useful for you, but this is a remarkable idea…and I can't wait to play with this. I'm very excited to see Yahoo! do this and I think we're going to see the web emphatically embrace this. What Yahoo! has essentially done here is brought a new level of order to this series of tubes we call the Internets.
