Fever: A personalized Techmeme
How can you keep track of all of this news? The information age is defined by too much information. It’s overly accessible and hard to manage. It’s the topic I’m most interested in researching.
So I’m trying Fever°. It’s a self-hosted feed reader, and it’s not free.
Fever° is smart; it knows link relationships between hot stories. It assigns a temperature to them based on how popular they are. So far I’ve only subscribed to a few blogs, but I already like it more than Google Reader because it’s more simplified.

I’ve heard many positive reviews, so I don’t mind paying to even just try it out. It was created by Shawn Inman, who is known for good design.
To make the most of the Hot list, Fever asks you to make a simple distinction between essential and supplemental feeds. Essential, must-read feeds are Kindling. Supplemental, low signal-to-noise feeds are Sparks. Sparks ignite Kindling raising the temperature of items and links that should not be missed.
It’s hard to charge for software these days, so I give him a lot of credit.
